When did you start making props/costuming?

What got you into prop making?

Like many of my generation, I was heavily inspired by visual storytelling in film and video games. Lord of the Rings and the work Weta Workshop did to bring that epic to life has been the strongest inspiration in maker pursuits.

Name one prop or project you're super proud of

I’ve made many of them by now, but I’ve really enjoyed the Space Marine Armors I’ve made for the shop and friends during my time at the shop.

Favorite thing you've learned during the process of prop and costume building?

3D modelling. Before starting work in the shop I was very limited in my abilities to use a computer, I’ve come very far since then and my ability to make end use parts for the shop and to solve non prop issues with 3d printing has been a great delight.

If you could give one piece of advice to future prop builders, what would it be?

Make the thing you really want to make, then make it again. You’ll learn so much from doing it once, but if you make the same piece again, that knowledge will really solidify into the expression of the next iteration.
